a little about this online gallery

This site is the resurrection of the Miles Mitchell Gallery of Fine Art Photography that was located in Tacoma's Rust building from January 1996 until July of 1997.  As such it is managed like a brick and mortar space with changing exhibits of fine art black and white photography.

Him...through me describes the origin of the imagery displayed here.  I'm a Christian photographer using the gift that God has given me to glorify His name in all that I do.  I don't hide the fact that I'd be nothing without Him.

The current exhibit runs through the month of December 2006. This exhibit Introspective in Style, examines the aesthetic of style through a series of prints created over the past 10 years.  I've purposely juxtaposed the viewer from urban to rural to landscape to keep you alert to the element of style in the images.  The question becomes, does the particular style of Miles Mitchell effectively describe the variety of imagery that he photographs?

As a visual artist I have no specific genre' although many of my subjects are definitely influenced by architecture.  My subject matter ranges from landscape to seascape to cityscape to just about anything that light falls on in interesting ways.  God has provided me with quite a broad palette to select from.

I like to feel that my style is unique although I prefer the look of the 1930 to 1940's contemporary photographers and I may have gained some influence from them.

A page dedicated to portraiture and model's portfolios has been added to the site.

I hope that you find this exhibit one of merit and the work able to stand on its own creativity.

With many blessings,

Miles
